This week, Jamie and Rachel sit down with AMI Primary Trainer Nia Seale and talk about all things Primary. They talk through the differences between a primary child and an elementary child, what makes a primary child unique, and how to support your primary age child during this time.
M. Nia Seale is an AMI Primary Trainer. She received her
AMI 3 to 6 Diploma in 1998 and holds a B.S. in Education Studies. Nia enjoyed 10 years working with children and families in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C. area Montessori schools. She has conducted workshops for parents, classroom assistants and Montessori teachers. As a National Examiner for AMI, Nia has examined students in the U.S., Egypt and Morocco. She has offered 3 to 6 Assistants Certificate courses in Nigeria and The Gambia. Nia is currently the Director of Training for the AMI 3 to 6 Diploma course in Lagos, Nigeria and is Co-Director of Training for the AMI 3 to 6 Diploma course with the Indaba Institute in Lynedoch, South Africa.

The amazing Alison Awes joins Jamie and Rachel on the podcast this week to sit down and talk all about dyslexia! Alison Awes has been the Director of Elementary Training at the Montessori Center of Minnesota since 2010 and serves as an adjunct faculty member for Saint Catherine University, St. Paul. She holds Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) Diplomas for Primary (ages three to six) and Elementary (ages six to twelve) levels, a B.A. in art
history from Smith College, an M.A. in Latin-American studies from Tulane University, and an M.Ed. in Montessori education from Loyola University Maryland. She has taught in both six-to-nine and nine-to-twelve Montessori classrooms.
In this episode, Alison talks through dyslexia, how the Montessori classroom is a great fit for a child with dyslexia, and also how to support your child at home during this time with reading and language.
